Red Alert Issued for Jeddah as Heavy Rain Expected on Monday

JEDDAH — The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a red alert for Jeddah, forecasting heavy rain from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The weather is expected to bring strong winds, poor visibility, hail, flash floods, high waves, and thunderstorms.

In response, the Crisis and Disaster Management Center in Makkah has advised motorists and beachgoers to remain cautious, avoid flood-prone areas, and steer clear of waterlogged roads. The center also noted that moderate to heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by hail, dust storms, and high waves, are expected to impact various parts of the region on both Monday and Tuesday.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense has urged the public to prioritize safety and adhere to weather warnings. It emphasized avoiding valleys, flood-prone areas, and risky activities such as swimming during the storm. Citizens and residents have been encouraged to stay updated through official channels and follow safety guidelines shared on social media platforms.

According to forecasts, the Makkah region will face intense rain, hail, and strong winds capable of stirring dust. Areas likely to experience heavy rainfall include Jeddah, Makkah City, Rabigh, Bahra, Al-Jumum, Kholais, and Al-Kamel. Moderate to heavy rain is also expected in Taif, Maysan, Al-Muwayh, Turbah, Al-Khurma, Rania, Al-Laith, and Al-Qunfudah.

The Civil Defense and meteorological authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and advise residents to take all necessary precautions during this period of unstable weather, which is anticipated to last until Wednesday.
